7/2/2013-Thursday


Hello peps,today our class in SL104.Today i had an important test which is ‘’SPEAKING TEST’’ Seriously i feel so excited and a litle bit nervouse.I hope that i understand the question that Miss Zue given.Hasmin,Fatini and I Must come to the class at 1.50p.m to arrange the table in the class.

After speaking test we have ‘’pre-listening speaking’’ Miss Zue give us pink paper (i love pink!!) hehe..in listening test,we had 3 section which is:

1.PART A (5 QUESTION )3 OBJECTIVE 2 SUBJECTIVE-FILL IN THE BLANK)
2.PART B (5 QUESTION ) 3 OBJECTIVE 2  SUBJECTIVE-FILL IN THE BLANK)
3.PART C (5 QUESTION) 3 OBJECTIVE 2 SUBJECTIVE-FILL IN THE BLANL)

TOTAL= 15MARKS

In listening part we must follow the PROCEDURE:

1.Listen carefully when the recording is played for the first time.
2.You are given one minute to answer the questions.
3.Listen to the recording for the second time.As you listen,check your answer.
4.The same procedure applies to Part B and Part C

Hi guys today our class in c101 .For today Miss Zue do an activity which is ‘’FORUM’’ Do you know what is forum? Forum is A meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchange .The purpose of this activity is to make student to speak more better,to generate idea.Miss Zue divide us to 4 grouped.

hi guys,today our class in SL104.Today we dont have group presentation.because Miss Zue will explain to all student about speaking test.SPEAKING TEST!!!! OMG! Miss Zue tells to us that speaking test will be held on Wednesday and Thursday (6/2/2013 and 7/2/2013).

Miss Zue divide us to 5 group.Group 1-3 has 4 people and group 4-5 has 3 people.My group member is Fatini,Hasmin and I.We are group number 5.Next Miss Zue tell to us that group 1-4 will had test on 6/2/2013 so that my group will had  test on 7/2/2013 yes!yes!yes!! haha..

Miss Zue explain to us the rule of speaking test,she also give us past year question of speaking test and ''Bel 120-speaking''.Each group will get 12 set of pastyear question and 1 set of ''bel120-speaking''.Bel120-speaking is how we talk use appropriate language but during test,we can't bring it.

Hi guys,today our class in SL006.Today Iffah,Fatini,Erna and i  do a presentation about grammar.Iffah and Fatini will present about ''adjective'' and our grouped will present about ''Adverb''.so we will start with iffah's grouped.

DEFINITION OF ADJECTIVE:
*Describe the quality of peoples,things,place and so on.

Example:

#happy,sad,poor,rich,full,empty,injured

*Adjectives describes or gives more information about noun/pronoun

Example:

#fresh fruit,stale fish,green vegetable.


*An adjective can point out things or people.


Example:


#Those groundnut are crunchy
#This cake is scrumptious


*Nouns can be used as adjectives,These nouns are in singular form.

Example:
#An orange cake
#A duck egg
#A garden party

*An adjectives can be formed using the ‘-ing’ from of a word(present participal)


Example:
#Appetising meal
#Cooking demonstration

*An adjectives can be formed using the ‘-ed’ from of the word                             (past participle)


Example:
#Fried fish
#Preserve fruit

*Nationalities can be used as nouns.

Example:

#English pancake
#French toast

*An adjective can be used to compare two people or things . Such comparative adjectives are usually formed by adding ‘-er
’ to the adjective .
Example:

#The knife is sharper than that one.


*Superlative adjectives are used to compare three or more people or things . These adjective are usually formed by adding ‘-est’ to an adjective and using the article ‘the’ in front of it.
Example:

#Buy food from the cleanest stall
#Select the biggest apples


 *The comparative or superlatives adjective end in ‘-y’, change the ‘-y’ to ‘-i’ before adding ‘-er’ or ‘-est’.

Example:
#Adnan is hungriest  then Ali .
# This is the dirtiest food stall I’ve ever seen .


*Some comparative and superlative adjective are formed by using the base form of the adjective with the expressions ‘more...than’ or ‘the most ...’.

Example:
#1)        .....more nutritious than .....
2)        .....more nourishing than ....
3)        .....more intoxicating ....


The position of adjectives

*Before noun

EX:
> A delicious meal
  
> A cold drink
 
 > A tiring day
  
> Strenuous exercise

*After the verb to be

EX:

> He is thirsty
 > I am ravenous
 > The mangoes are ripe

*After in transitive verb (feel , taste, smell , appear, look , sound , seem)

Ex:
> The cheese are smell awful
The fish looks fresh  
The jogger appears exhausted                               
                      







Next we  continue with my grouped.Actually,i feel a litle bit weird because i afraid if my friends ask ''a weird question'' haha..but alhamdulillah,i think we do a great work today.So we need to explain about adverbs.








Definition:adverbs tell you how, where or when some thing is done. In other words, they describe the manner, place or time of an action.

*commonly adverb are formed from adjectives for example:



vSome words that end in -ly are not adverbs.
vSome adjectives end in -ly too.

For Example:-
     1.Sam was feeling very lonely.
     2.She was wearing a lovely dress.
     3.It was a very lively party
Kinds of adverb:

Adverb of place:
Some adverbs and adverb phrases answer the question where?.
They are called adverbs of place
Example:
1.I’ve lived here for about two years.
2.English and German are closely related.
                                 3.The boys are playing ups
                                       4.The dog is in the  garden.
 5.Were going to New York City on our school trip.
6..His children go everywhere with   him.

Adverb of manner:
Some adverbs and adverb phrases describe the way people do things.
Example:
               
                     1.The girls answered all the questions correctly.
                        2.He was driving carelessly.
                        3
The plane landed safely.

                     4. Ramu plays guitar skillfully.

Adverb of frequency:
Some adverbs and adverb phrases answer the question “how often an action is done”
They are called adverbs of frequency
        Example:

1.The children always go to school on the bus.
2.I’ll never make that mistake again .
 3.I clean my bedroom every day.
4.Dad polishes his shoes twice a week.

Adverb of time
It describes when an action is done
Example:

1.The train has already left.
2.We moved into our new house last week.
3.Our favorite T.V. program starts at 6o clock.
4.I’m going to my new school tomorrow.

Adverb of quantity or degree.


It  shows how much, or in what degree or to what extent.
Example:

1.He was too  careless.
2.The sea is very stormy.
3.I am rather  busy.
4.I am fully  prepared.
5.These mangos are almost  ripe.

Adverb of reason
The adverb which tells about a reason is called adverb of reason.
Example:
1.He is hence unable to refute the charge.
2.He therefore left school.

Adverb of affirmation and negotiation

Which says yes if it is yes and no if it is no
Example:

1. I don’t know.
2. Surely you are mistaken.
3. He certainly went.
   
Some examples of adverbs of different kinds:

1.Tortoise walks  slowly (Manner).
2.We will have our Semester exams on April 1st week(Time).
3.The accident happened near the Highway(Place).
4.At least  twice a week I used to go for Temple(Frequency).
5.We all go for a picnic just for enjoyment(Purpose).
6.The sea is very stormy(Degree /Quantity).
7.Surely you are mistaken(Affirmation/Negation).

Today Iqa and Farhani were present about ''pronouns and article''

Definition:pronouns are small words tahat take place of a noun.

Type of pronoun:

1.Personal pronouns-replace nouns
*I,you(singular)
*he,she,it,we,they,you(plural)
Example:
*Adi and saufi are from Shah Alam.(They are from Shah Alam)

2.Reflexive pronouns-intensity antecedents,reflect antecedents.
*myself,yourself,himself,herself,itself,ourself,yourself,themselve.
Example:
*John is talking to him
*John is talking to himself
*Dr Zara Ismail herself conducts the seminar(intensifies antecedent)
*Dr Zara Ismail conducts the seminar herself.(Reflects antecedent)

3.Relative pronouns-join 2 senences,take the place of nouns/pronouns or refer to antecedents.
*who,whose,which,that.
Example:

*The talk on self-development that was attended by many participants was great success.
*Dr Aiman Abdul Rahim,whose reputation is well known across the nation,is from Mersing.
*He conducts workshops on self-development in Putrajaya where his office is located.


4.Interrogative pronouns-form questions
*what,when,where,why,who,how.
Example:

*How do you manage yourself?

*When do you usually face difficulties?
*Where do you go to seek help?
*What do you benefit from a workshops?
*Why do you face diffilculties?
*Who usually helps you?

Articles

A,an
*indifinite used before singular countable nouns.
Ex:
#a guideline,an expert,an apple

The
*definite,used before singular and plural nouns and before countable and uncountable nouns.
Ex:
#the presenter,the audience,the sessions,the time,the money.

*before a superlative
Ex:
# the easiest,the least,the most

*before title or position,where the person's is not mentioned
Ex:

*before noun,which only one.
Ex:

We do not use articles with..

*proper nouns such as names of towns,countries,roads or streets

Determiners
Def:

Determiners are used to measure uncountable nouns to show quantity.


Ex:

#Technology is very useful. Nowadays,many seminar rooms are equipped with computers and projectors.Participants are not allowed have food or drinks in the rooms after an incident last month,whereby a participant spilled some coffee and damaged a computer.One of the reason why food and drinks are not permitted in the room to prevent room getting dirty.However some participant are stubborn and still break the rules.

Conjunctions

Def:
Conjunction are words use to link word,phrases,clauses or sentences.Each conjunction can sometimes have more than one function.






Preposition
Def:
Preposition is a word which shows relationships among words in a sentence.The relationships include direction,place,time,cause,manner and amount.



*Preposition of place show you where something is:





*Preposition of time show you the concept of time or duration of time:



*Preposition of movement show younhow something moves in relation to other things.

Assalamualaikum,hi everyone! Today our class in SL104.Today our lecture,Miss Zuraidah teach us about ''reference word''.What is ''reference word''??

*Reference words it ''refer to subject/nouns''


#Example:

1.It-normal pronouns
2.Its-singular(computer's)
3.They-subjective
4.Them-objective pronouns
5.Their-posssesive pronouns(computers')

Next,Miss Zue teach us about ''Contextual Reference''

We have 5 type of contextual adjective which is:

1.Pronouns & possesive adjective


Example:

1.Even though an optical fibre is as thin as hair,its signal carrying capacity is higher than copper wire.
2.Bill Gates knew that PCs would be big bussiness and he imagined Microsoft playing a center role in this industry.
''he'' refer to Bill Gates

2.Rewording(particular words).

*resentment-a feeling of bitterness & anger/hattered

3.Synonyms.

 *words with the same or similar meanings.
Synonyms can be any part of speech (such as nounsverbsadjectivesadverbs or prepositions), 
Example:


  • Verb
    • "buy" and "purchase"
  • Adjective
    • "big" and "large"
  • Adverb
    • "quickly" and "speedily"
  • Preposition
    • "on" and "upon"


4.Anthonyms.

* Word that has the opposite meaning as another word.
Example:

5.Detailed

After Miss Zue give us information about contectual reference word,she divide us into 4 grouped,Each grouped will gets 16 card and we need to answering all the question about reference word in the sentences.Iela,Fathi,Tini and i are grouped 3.I think its the best/funny moment because my grouped only can answer 1/16 question.Hahaha...very funny.So after that ,Miss Zue divide us to 9 grouped(2 person per grouped) to present about grammar. Erna and 1 grouped number 4 and we need to present about adverb.

so i think that all for today..bye =)
